Bungendore Wood Works Gallery's artistic director David MacLaren and a few of his woodworking friends will be putting a creative spin on the old-fashioned bonfire as part of Fireside 2010. Putting all their skills into use, David and his friends will be creating a series of totems, designed to burn for maximum effect. Head to Bungendore for dinner at the Gallery Cafe, and warm up with a glass or mulled wine, but make sure to head out into the galley forecourt once the sun goes down for the awesome 'Burning of the totems'. Something a little bit different, to celebrate a Canberra winter.
Poachers Fireside Degustation Dinner at Poachers Pantry - Saturday, 7 August
Poachers Pantry, at Hall, has created a special seasonal menu sure to warm you through - traditional slow cooked meals with a contemporary twist. Bookings essential.
Wine masterclass - pinot noir at Lerida Estate - Saturday, 7 August
On each Saturday in August, Jim Lumbers, proprietor, and Malcolm Burdett, winemaker, will be lifting the covers on wine making by conducting a master class on how to make and blend wine. This week will focus on pinot noir, widely considered to produce some of the finest wines in the world, but a difficult variety to cultivate and transform into wine. The masterclass will finish with canapes, glasses of gluhwein and hot drinks, all served in front of the fire!
And all month long we've got Truffles and petanque at Café Lerida, Fireside treatments at Geranium House day spa, warm winter textiles and jewellery at Beaver Galleries, Spanish wine and tapas at Mt Majura Vineyard, pies and puddings lunch specials at Podfood, truffles at Silo Bakery and Winterfest Indulgence packages at Country Guesthouse Schonegg.
The Fireside Festival is presented by The Poacher's Way.
