Don’t miss out on the final weekend of the 2010 Fireside Festival - there is still plenty in store for lovers of hearty winter food, fine wine and creative experiences…
Friday 27 August
Head out tonight to enjoy the final Mount Majura Vineyard Spanish wine and tapas evening – take your colleagues, friends or family and celebrate the final days of winter. While you’re there take a look at the photographic exhibition by local artist, Beth Jennings.
Enjoy some winter cuisine with the final Pies and Puddings lunch time special at Podfood – then duck around the corner for a delicious mulled wine at neighbouring Pialligo Estate.
Saturday 28 August
Head to historic Gundaroo and explore the village in the evening before indulging in the delicious Fireside Greek banquet at the Gundaroo Colonial Inn.
Get tips from the experts on creating a fine Pinot Gris during the final wine masterclass at Lerida Estate on Saturday afternoon. Enjoy lunch in the café before the class or try your hand at Petanque.
Sunday 29 August
Embrace spring as 40,000 daffodils burst into bloom throughout the spectacular gardens at Redbrow Gardens, Murrumbateman – join David and Elisabeth for their open garden on Sunday and support Daffodil Day.
Visit Crisp Galleries, Bowning for their Wearable and Precious Pieces in Glass exhibition opening on Sunday then enjoy Four Hands on Piano, with Ukranian-born concert pianist Evgeny Ukhanov and talented young pianist Alexey Yemtsov. A delightful afternoon in the gardens at Crisp Galleries.
Take a trip to Pialligo for a lazy afternoon of wine and food at the Pialligo Estate and Podfood progressive lunch this Sunday. Canapés and entree at the winery, followed by mains and dessert at Podfood. Bookings essential.
Sit back and relax with a few friends at the historic Gundaroo Colonial Inn for the final Fireside lazy Sunday afternoon of wine food and music.

If you’ve never been it is time you made the trip to delightful Bungendore – you’ll be inspired at the Bungendore Wood Works Gallery and then you can head to Lambert Vineyards for lunch or dinner… why not stay the night at the Old Stone House?
In Canberra you can experience the warm winter textiles and handmade jewellery exhibitions at the Beaver Galleries – call into the Palatte Café where Meg will serve you up a delicious all day weekend brunch for the Fireside Festival.
Take a weekend drive to Gundaroo for the Cork Street Café’s Gundaroo Fireside big breakfast before heading to nearby Old Saint Luke’s Studio to join potters Ian Jones and Moraig McKenna for an informal studio and kiln tour complete with complimentary hot chocolate or mulled wine. And if you’re looking for lunch or dinner with a difference book in for Grazing’s degustation lunch and dinners – only for this weekend!
Enjoy live music and delicious food with a long weekend lunch by the pot-belly fire at Poachers Pantry, Hall. The degustation dinner for Saturday night is already booked out but don’t forget that you can enjoy Poachers by night every Friday and Saturday now.
It is sure to be a big week with the release of the new Clonakilla Shiraz Viognier on 1 September and while you can’t try it just yet you can enjoy some superb cellar-door only wine tastings this weekend.
